Commissioning

Art commissions are a great way to create a focal point in your home which tells a story entirely of your own making. Art can be created from a photo you’ve taken, or a sketch you’ve made, or you can tweak an existing artwork by the artist by introducing something different in a hand finished commission.

What ever your ideas, if you commission artwork then these ideas can come to life, and in exactly the way you want them to. If you love the work or a particular style of JB Evans the commissioning a personal work could be for you.

How do I commission art?

Whether you wish to commission landscape art, commission seascape art, or perhaps portraits of people, the following considerations are things you need to bear in mind:

Once you have firm answers to all of these considerations JB Evans will be able to further discuss your requirements with you, either in person, via video call or over the phone. You can email inspiration images or the exact images of what you wish the artist to replicate.

Commissioning FAQ's

How much will the artwork cost?

Art commission prices differ from piece to piece and there are a variety of things that can affect the final cost of the artwork. The larger the piece you want the more expensive this will be, and prices also differ between art printed on canvas or in a framed print. In your discussion with the artist she will be able to discuss these different types of finish with you.

How long does it take for you to create a piece?

There is no specific amount of time, since each piece is unique in its making. But to try and answer the question, paintings have taken up to 3 months off and on, and some drawings I have completed in less than a day. Average ink drawing is around 24 hours. Remember, that there is finishing such as protecting, varnishing, and framing after the work is completed.

Do you offer a Bespoke Framing Service?

Yes we do. Although we have a standard frame which can be purchased at the same time as purchasing the art work, we do offer alternatives at different price ranges. We believe that the right frame provides a visual accompaniment to its environment. Our hand-crafted framers draws on years of experience in time-honoured techniques such as metal leafing, hand painting, mounting, glazing and restoration. With frames designed and manufactured by us, we work closely with our clients to present each work of art to its full potential.
